Light Sources
So I started the animation I was talking about. Shortly into it I gave up. For as long as I can rmemeber I’ve had this mega strong, powerful desk lap (which is oddly large and overly stronge for a desk lamp) which I used for animation. It’s always served its purpose well, but I think I need to move on to a bigger more complex lighting system.
Obviously the more lights and better distributed they are, the better looking the film. For some reason, my lighting was never a problem. But now, as I only have one light source and I’m shooting in a area that has high light reflectivity, it produces noto nly unequal light in shots, but laso large shadows. So I’m buying another lamp so i can have a set up like this:
| Set |
/ ^ \
/ | Camera | \
| Lamp | | Lamp |
So as you can see, the two light sources will be pointed diagonally at the set creating shadows that are equal (not sloping to one side) and a consistent light source that won’t flicker. So all filming is on hold til then, and will most probably resume on sunday. I’d love to get this film done sooner, but I don’t want the lighting to look like shit, because that would take alot away from the film.
